Is your bag's leather is genuine or not?

A good leather bag exudes luxury and quality.

Every woman wants to be seen with a beautiful exclusive leather bag. Luxury bags and designer bags exude class and stand for excellent quality. But how do you recognize a high-quality handbag or shoulder bag? How do you see if you are dealing with a quality bag?

Nowadays, the word luxury is quickly added to bags. You also regularly come across counterfeit designer bags. These "fake presses" are much cheaper. That sounds very attractive of course, but the quality is also good. That is of course much less.

You will soon notice whether a bag has quality. You just have to know what to look at. For example, do you know how to distinguish between genuine leather and imitation leather? Use your senses well and you will come a long way.

Can you recognize a genuine leather bag of good quality?

What should you pay attention to when you purchase a good leather handbag or shoulder bag?

These are our handy tips :

1. Genuine leather or artificial leather?

A genuine leather bag is of course much nicer and of better quality than a leatherette bag. How do you see the difference between genuine leather and faux leather with a handbag?

* Smell the leather

Press your nose against the leather bag and smell. Sniff the scent. Genuine leather has a wonderful specific, characteristic odor. You smell it immediately.

* Feel the leather

Grab your handbag and touch it. Rub your hand over the bag and feel the leather. Genuine leather feels very natural and is generally soft, supple and elastic. Leatherette is much stiffer, stiffer and harder. And sometimes it can even feel like plastic.

* View the structure (of the leather)

No leather bag is the same. Genuine leather is a natural product. Take a good look at the surface and structure of the leather. Each piece of leather has a different pattern with its irregularities, pores, veins, and wrinkles. You see more folds in one place than in the other. This is the charm of real leather. It makes your leather bag unique with its own unique character.

Synthetic leather can also have a structure similar to that of real leather, in some cases, this pattern is printed on it. Does the leather look very (and too) neat, is the structure very even and do you see repetition in the motif? Then you are probably dealing with faux leather. Synthetic leather is usually much smoother without scratches or other imperfections.

* Check the label

Often there is a card or label attached to or in the bag stating that it is a genuine leather bag. "Genuine leather" or "Genuine leather" can be written on it. The possibly attached card of the bag brand or the manufacturer of the leather goods may also state “Handcrafted leather goods”.

2. The finish of the bag

A real luxury bag or designer bag is perfectly finished. Take a good look at all the edges and details, they should look pico Bello. For example, Damilano’s sling bag for women category is well-finished and well-stitched. You can often tell by the stitching if you have a quality bag in your hands. With a well-finished bag, the stitching looks neat. They are tight, straight and tight.

Luxury leather bags are usually made by hand. Because experienced professionals work with great care, attention and attention to detail, you get a beautifully finished bag. Often you will also see a card or label with the bag stating that it is handmade.

3. The hardware of a bag

You can also read a lot about the hardware. Are the zippers, closures and buckles all without scratches and are they the same color? In addition to the fact that it should look beautiful, its quality should, of course, be good. The hardware should not peel off or break down over time. It must feel firm and therefore heavy materials are used for this

If you carry a bag regularly, you often use closures such as zippers and snaps. It is therefore very important that this does not break easily, otherwise, your bag is practically unusable. With the better quality bags, a zipper opens and closes easily and smoothly, without hitches. A push-button should not suddenly come loose and in the case of a magnetic closure, a strong magnet is used.

Light hardware is much cheaper and also breaks down faster. Feel it for once.

4. The interior of a bag

The inside of the bag can also say a lot about the quality. With cheaper bags, there is often less attention paid to the interior. Take a good look at the lining and the pockets. These are stitched on a luxury bag and not glued. Here, too, the finish should be nice: the stitching straight and sleek, well-working lines and solid hardware.

All these are some points for you to check the quality of a bag you buy!
